This is nice. Really good use of the watercolour medium.
Kinda has a Japanese traditional feel about it.
Also, your monster has spikes for feet just like mine does!!

I like how you have such clean lines on the beast, and then let the water color create the environment. did you use alchol on the paint? salt? I like how it seems less subtle than those additives. but man you can get some crazy results that way.
keep it up

Hej landsman!

I like the creature, but on what did it hurt itself? Did it pierce itself with one of those tentacles:p ?

Hej guys. to answer a couple of questions, the painting was done with just wet on wet watercolors, no salt or anything. Maybe i should try it though some time :). And as to what hurt him, its up to your imagination :)

I got it. Aquaman stabbed it with a horn from a dead narwhal and now it's sinking to the bottom of the ocean to be crushed under the immense pressure.

Looks awesome, man.

Question: I feel stupid. What does salt do to watercolors?

:bounce: thats it! you got it! exactly what i was thinking! :)

oh and the salt thing, (oh, the ignorance!) it makes little spots of green that glow in the dark ofcourse!

This is probably a stupid question. Did you ink the peice before addind the color (with a waterproof ink), ink it while the paper was wet and you were adding the color, or after the color was added and the paper dried.

Heh. I also forgot to mention how cool the illustration is! The beast reminds me of Mike Mignola's work.
