I am working with a developer and we are going to be creating plug-ins, scripts, actions styles, filters etc.. There are a few ideas already on the table, but I would really like to know if you as an artist or designer want/need in photoshop that you just cannot find? Obviously the list is huge but any idea no matter how random would be much appreciated.

A node based GUI like Shake or Fusion would be great.

I would love to be able to use multiple strokes/glows on an object.

A perspective tool would be great, it could be simple too, or better yet it would be as simple or complex as needed by the user.

Imagine a layer with the Horizon Line that would overlay the drawing you want to apply the perspective lines at, there would be fan like objects (a set of lines that would go to a vanishing point) that you could set the number of lines inside as well as sync the distance of each line inside the fan on all vp sets. The vanishing line would have be able to move up and bottom. For three point perspective I still have to figure out but in principle the fans would just pan left or right and the bottom and up of the "fan" would expand or compress as you needed it.

Multiple brushes per stroke. I.e. a brush that changes brushes (randomly within a specified group of brushes) to look more real.
(Hope I make it clear what I'm after.)

Do you mean an addition to the vanishing point already built into Photoshop?

I'd like the ability to not have my original (and editable) effects be cleared when I break them into separate layers. Or at least be able to choose which effects I want to create as layers. For example, maybe I want to make a stroke into a separate layer so I can mask it, but I want to keep my outer glow on there as a regular layer effect.

I know what you are talking about but I'm not sure that can be accomlished with a plug-in or filter. I know that FilterForge has a node-based GUI but that is to build filters. Thanks for the suggestion though. I will definately discuss it with the dev.

I second the idea for multiple strokes on one layer or shape.

An editable 3D text plugin might be cool. (I know you can import Smart Objects from Illustrator, but it's nice to stay in one program for as long as possible).

I don't have the will or time to code it myself (and the SDK, for that matter), but something I've been wanting is

- a floating palette which would be a one-click color picker, in which you could load your own images/colormaps

There's a vanishing point built into Photoshop?

I use a japanese sotware to do my perspective guidelines with a perspective vanishing point and other type of guides:

It would be great to see New Cutout filter(Filters/Artistic/Cutout).
It is an excellent filter for artists as help to understand how "object" can be simplified into surfaces.
Only problem is that it has only 8 colors. It would be great to have it in 32, 64, etc, colour mode(something like Live trace in Adobe Illustrator).

Greetings
M
p.s. I second Workbench idea for perspective guidlines and Berniebernie idea for floating pallete
