View Full Version : Question:3D Paint Tool Crashing Maya
fattkid 05-24-2003, 04:33 AM I'm hoping someone out there has had this problem already and may be able to assist me. I'm running 4.5 on Windows XP. I have half a poly head, mapped and weighing in at 7200 triangles. When I attempt to paint on it with the 3D paint tool (after assigning a texture) I get a fatal error and Maya crashes. I have deleted the objects history and frozen transformations. There are no other objects or non default shaders in the scene. The 3D paint tool works fine on any other models or geometry, leading me to think the head geometry is flawed in some way. Any suggestions?

7200 triangles doesn't sound like an awful lot... try this:
1. Polygons - Cleanup: Works in mysterious ways sometimes!
2. Export the object and import it in a new scene, then try painting it...
Other than that, I wouldn't know how to help

maybe it has something to do with your videocard? you might want to dbl check to make sure you have the latest drivers. i read something on AW website about problems on certain OS and also certain video cards along with it. if you check there maybe you can find something like that. i found that long ago. i would check you drivers though. other than that no clue.
