It has a S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR vid card and I'm running XP home and a AMD 2.2 anthlon processor....When I run Blender everything is slow and the menus and pointer flashes....with wings 3D it won't even execute saying it had a TCP/IP error...I tried using the newest drivers from tha VIA site and everthing still is the same...All games seem to work ok as well as terragen...any suggestions ?

S3... ? - Ouch! ;)
Does it have hardware antialiasing?
Blender have broblems with it atleast with GForce, so if yor card have it try to turn it off

Thanks for the advise Poju : I looked for the antialailising features and didn't find it listed ...however to be sure I posted the question on the maufacturers bulletin board and will post the results later ...

Blender is an OpenGL based program, maybe the settings for OpenGL in your video card need to be adjusted?
Just a shot in the dark, but I was playing around with another 3d program that had battery-drain-electic-whell-chair-speed, and I played with the Video Card settings and subverted the problem.
not to sure, just a thought.

Hi Clappdocter,
I had an old IBM with a savage card,
when i first started out using blender ,
and i had the same problem.
your savage card does support opengl,
but, here i have to agree with nospline,
about turning down your acceleration.
i fixed the problem by (windows)
right clicking on your desktop:
goto propertys>
settings>
advanced>
trouble shooting>
then turn down the acceleration about
halfway and give that a try:)
hope this helps,
dale
P.S. just found this post at elysiun:

Wow thanks H@dj & pojos : I reset the acceleration to half and it did the same thing as usual...but knowing your experience and pojus I kept adjusting till I was only one notch from off ...I guess thats the low ...anyway I got 2.23 to work great .. everything is running smooth ...:applause:
