hey,
i was hoping someone might be able to tell me how to render more than one scene in a "play list" sort of idea.

by this i mean for example that if i set it to render a scene with the command prompt, how can i get it to start on another when it is done if im not around?

thanks alot.

I'll check on the posibilities for using the command line for this type of batch, but honestly I recomend trying SMEDGE.
Its a very simple to use batch renderer for Maya. I only use the command line render for single renders at home. But will probably buy smedge at home as well soon. Its pretty cheap. Heres an address for ya.

yeah i used to use smedge a lot when i was on a network.
its a really cool program, but i am not in the mood for paying for anything right now (typical cheapo guy).

now that you have reminded me of it ill check my backups and see if i still have it. if so ill send it to ya.

You could write a dos-like batch file:
write your render-commands in a ASCII file and save it as name.bat.
now you will be able to execute it in the commandline.

Havent tried the .bat file approach sounds cool though.

For multiple files, directorie changes, and output changes smedge is a efficient setup for production. I would like to see a batcher like smedge just with MEL so you could customize. The bat file option would pretty much need to be done each time, unless you always work on the same project.

I have heard about a mel script for networkrendering on nt mashines. itīs called framebooster. Iīve never tried it but it looks cool.

for writing .bat files I use a free tool called renderpal to create the commands and copy/paste them in an text editor.

cheers
