Hello,

This has been a major problem to me that I just can't find a solution. What I am trying to do is very simple, I want to round the sharp corners in my vector objects neatly. I have included an example what I am trying to achieve; on the left is what I want it to look and on the right is something I can manage to achieve in photoshop at the moment.

I want the filleting to be perfectly rounded, without having to trial&error it for ages. I guess in illustrator this should be easy but I cant figure out how to do it there either. I would prefer to do this in photoshop tho.

Is this possible with photoshop tools or is there some plugin for photoshop that makes this an easy job?

Thanks!

I haven't tried the Photoshop action, so I have no idea if it works. A script is really what you want though and you could ask these people here: http://www.ps-scripts.com/bb/

Thanks. I guess those will help. I wonder why adobe havent included a simple tool to get the result easily. I think people would need it a lot.

Are you using the pen tool to do these?? It would be easy and quick to get the results your looking for using this tool.

Mask out your shape
Then do select > modify > smooth

Then re-fill it, or just invert the selection and press delete

This apparently doesnt work with vector shapes?

Ok, well I never understood why people use PS for vector art. Just use Illustrator or a real vector program. But lets go ahead and say you can't use those for some reason.

Then yes, you should use the pen tool, and then set the corners to bezier not squared. And there isn't a magical button to round them with the pen tool, you will need to set each one.

Something that might help out when trying to acheive perfect corners with the pen tool, would be to set up a grid. That way you can set all the anchor points in the same position as other ones and drag the beizer handles to roughly the same point to get the same looking corner, if that makes any sense. I've been very brief on that explaination, if you need me to explain more on that, just let me know.
Another option for an image like the one you have provided, would be to use the rounded rectangle shape tool. Basically get one rectangle with corners that you like then copy, paste, rotate, mask on new layers as needed. This would be one way of making sure that every corner was exacly the same. Although this method would leave you just with an image and not a vector, which maybe is not what your looking for.

You could also try drawing the shape in Illustrator, then placing the objct in Photoshop as a SmartObject.
