View Full Version : 2 walkcycles - max rig and dee rig

I would like to receive some crits about this walkcycles I recently did..
Im not too happy with the arms of the max rig walkcycle, it gets a little hard to pose them because of the pivots orientation..
Please tell me what you think!

I like your Max walk. You really did a good job on his lower half in my opinion. Better than I've been getting doing walks with that rig.

If you want to compare and talk some.
Personally, I'de loosen up his wrists some.
Also, His right leg is popping.
One more thing, I'de take that squash and stretch on his torso waaayyyy down.
I really dig the foot plants and foot roll err, wait.. I'de take the toe flap on the foot plant down just a tad.
Oh yeah, and my disclaimer... "I'm new at this, take everything I say with a grain of salt".

actually I was just talking with the creator of that rig. He put a "solution" to that shoulder problem on the info page for that rig on highend3d.... errr

About your other walk, the Dee model.
I'de take the squash and stretch down on her head.
Otherwise I think it looks really good.

Thank you for your comments and crits! You right about the squash n stretch! Sometimes I get too excited with it and I over use it! ill take it a little bit smoother..
Also with the legs I notice now the right leg popping when it gets to the back position... This and the arms is what takes me the most of the time to get right..
Thank for the tip on the arms rotations... The only thing is that im using 3ds max! its the same rig u use in maya.. but Ill check the attribute editor to see if I can solve the problem.
I just checked your walk, u got a nice hands and fingers overlapping action there! also I think you achieved a better result on your legs and arms than i did.. The only thing i see in your animation is the hips rotating too much up n down, and i dont see any forward backward rotation on them..
I will make those fixes to see how it gets!

Looking MUCH better now... I really like this.. NIce and simple..... You can barely notice that it cycles. I think your on the right track now. Leep up the good work and its good to see you putting everyones critiques and feedback to use. Thats what this place is all about. Your proof of critique helping someone's work.
Happy Animating with MAx he is a GREAT character I had a lot of fun working with him
