Hi guys, I'm a 3D newbie, and this is my first attempt at working with any sort of lip sync or animation, so bear that in mind. :p It's also one of the first times trying to work with the edgeloop mentality, and thus the loops aren't working as well as I'd like, but that will come with experience. While this is, as far as I'm concerned, finished, as far as the model goes (since I'm going to use what I learned in modelling it to start again from scratch), it's also far from being a "finished" piece, per se, hence my decision to post it here in WIP. The model started off based on myself for the inital topology and volume, but after that I simply winged it, and is in no way meant to look like Pacino (I just picked the audio clip at random, basically). The soundbite is of Al Pacino in a scene from The Godfather (no prizes if you recognize the clip :p)

First some self-critique:
The mesh is a bit of a mess, with edgeloops terminating at odd places, as I couldn't figure out how to continue them in the context of the model. So while a lot of it is mainly quads, there are poles all over the place (one of the biggest culprits here is the corners of the mouth. Also, the nose, for some reason, when rendered as a still, shows some really odd creasing in the transition from the nose to the face, even though it's basically all quads there. surprisingly enough (to me), the deformations seemed to hold up fairly well, all things considered.

Again, this was a learning experience for me, and the Sub-D theory thread in the Max section of this forum was an amazing help.

Any comments are welcome and encouraged. :)
