badass loggie!
I like the leathery look of his skin, and the deformations look really cool. I would try to put his eyes out a little more tho :) make them a bit more contrasty to the skin

Absolutely love the skin texture and deformation technique, and thanks so much for posting that vid showing the face rig, fantastic!

Not that I should crit something as good as this but the eyes are letting the rest of the face down, a bit blurry and indistinct. If the specular is so high on the skin the eye highlights should be really crisp...

Once again great stuff, hope you get a chance to post an animation.

Awesome loganarts!

I dig your style man... Nice face modeling overal, but i'll go with some horns for him... Make'em big !!!

I agree about the eyes. They're kinda dead to me...!

I'll look foward when this gets a first page!

KeepUP!

Wow Excelent stuff!

Id like a look at your topology and the bones in a transparent open gl of the model.

I have always gone the morph target route BUT I may rethink that.

Good god, that skin bump is just amazing.
Is it 100% painted or were photos used?

Oh, and did you model him in Wings? :)

impressive work ... i love the texture ... nicely detailed ... how long did it take you to do this ?

is it possible for you to explain how does that system work ? in which way is it different than skinning your mesh with some bones ? what does the script do ? Sorry, but i am a bit curious about it :)

Hello artists,

Thank you all for the great replies:):):)

ROGER - thanks a lot man:)

MATTMOS - Thanks a lot man!!!!! i will sure make some decent eyes for it soon:) i was actually in a rush on that since my work was going to use it for something in the next day so i textured it in an hour and rendered.

TULE - THANKS MAN!! cheers!

RICH SUCHY - thank you very much man!!! i have something about it here: www.3dluvr.com/loganarts/wips.htm im gonna post a wire soon:)

JIDE - WOW THANKS MAN!! it is 100% painted since i dont like to use photos much and it was 100% XSI in modeling:) ps. i did lots of scripts to make xsi looks like wings when modeling lol

WALEE - thank you man!!! The system is pretty much the same that MESSIAH has. I ve created(with my buddy LUIZ as programmer) 2 types of bones:

Muscle bones - they bulge when they are compressed simulating the actual muscle.. it is important to keep the volume of the face when deforming.

skin chain - It work for chains of bones and they just stretches together when manipulated so it is perfect for mouth eyes and control of the cheecks and fore head controls..
all bones when u run the scripts gains a implicit sphere in the joints and those spheres are the thing ure goin to animate so u can hide the bones from ur viewport.
It is very good to create inbetween and non-linear deformation of expressions. also to create unique phonemes when animating.

The name of the package will be related to facial features script or something cos it is totally dedicated to facial deformation.

ps. thanks Taron and messiah for the inspiration.

cheers mates..

Thanks for posting that stuff. I think you may have made a convert with the boned face. It looks like it would be faster to set that up than to make tons of morph targets one at a time. and the results look far better than I imagined considering that you have less control point by point of the finished shape. It really doesnt appear to matter.

I'l have to do some test of that idea on some of my models and see if I get similar results.

AND very nice displayed work on your web-site as well!

I knew of a animator at DD that used bones for facial animation in Maya. It looked and worked well, but I don't see to many people doing it.
loganarts- again good job on it and the texturing!

it seems like a really cool way of handling facial animation. What are the advantages and disadvantages compared to the morph target system ? is it possible for you to post a wireframe with the bones et the relation between the bones and the mesh, or is it top secret :) ?

I guess you must have read lots of books related to the anatomy of the head ;)

keep up the good work ... we want to see a lipsync example now :D
