Hi,

from the web site of Apple, here
http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/specs/

they mention this
AVCHD and AVC-Intra editing support using ProRes (requires Mac Pro).
Does that mean I can not capture avchd footage if I have final cut pro in iMac?

you can, but what they are implying is that apple prores is a very cpu intensive codec so it might run slow on an imac. Never edited with prores on an imac but i can tell you that even on a mac pro it can be sluggish at times
