Hi,

i made a character that i want to animate with bones and facial animation. I made it out of polygons. Now i wonder what the best time for smoothing is. Should i rig it, bind it then and smooth it afterwoods to get rid of errors. But what about facial animations. I on't want to animate a smoothed face. Is there any good tutorial out there about rigging and animating or what is your advice?

thank you for reading and maybe answering :-)

I would say use some sort of smooth proxy. 4.5 smooth proxy or of course, all powerful CPS. Then that way you just bind your rig to the low rez and it will drive the high rez. You can then make the low rez visible and animate then turn it off and turn the hi rez on to render..... works great. Also do your facial blendshapes on the low rez and will transfer perfectly to the hi rez. I think this is the best route to go for what you are doing. And it should work quite easily and give you a lot of versitility.
