I like your stuff Ryan

Though you should have added that baseball animation you were working on a few months ago. How long were your renders for the dog scene?

Reeeeaaally short! :wip: But a very good start. The car lift didn't feel quite a weighty as I had hoped. It seemed like he just tipped it over with ease. You kinda cheated by switching the camera angle (nice trick, but in a demo reel you want to show off animation more than cinematography, lol). Once it was on it's edge, the balance felt good, but then he got it up onto his shoulders pretty easily. Make the stressful parts slower, and add some shake in the knees and elbows. The dog looks really jerky in his movements. The poses are great, but the timing needs some work. Imagine a ball bouncing down the hallway when you animate the root. Try speeding it up a little to give him enough momentum to lose his grip, and start the slippery icey part earlier.. like he's trying to grip the floor all clumsily while sliding sideways into the doorway, and hitting the doorway is what helps him regain control. Overall it shows that you have promise. Keep it up and add more stuff! :D

Hi ryan ..

I would not call it ur demo reel short, coz 3-4 good shots is all that it takes. No point in filling the demoreel with walk cycles shown from every direction !

Anyways, I agree a bit with mistasam02. You need to concentrate on basics.

CAR SHOT:
In the car lift, there was lack of strong poses, overlapping, and timing/spacing.

Initially the guy lifts the car in a position where he has to completely depend on his arm muscles to raise the car sideways. And if he manages to do that, then later on he does not need to exert much effort (since his arms are so strong :D ). So the first pose itself lacks conviction. Later on when he throws the car, it seems to be thrown pretty easily. Watch a couple of old superman animations. They treat weight in a pretty good way. Also the whole body seems to be moving at the same time. Try to get some overlap.

DOG SHOT:

I think it was meant to be cartoony, but turned out goofy ?? The dog seemed to have no control over his legs which were slipping and sliding. Quadrapeds are difficult to work on in the initial stages.

My two cents on your work. Hope it helps :)

Play hard, animate harder :)
