i downloaded the free AE project from trapcode cloudflight.

i think it looked very good. but still not realistic enough for a more serious effect. so i looked at the settings and they are really simple. but the problem is IMO that the cloud particles(smokelet) are not good enough. they are to simple. plus they dont have enough texture.
so i made custom particles in photoshop. they are pretty simple. but i think the effect looks better.

this was rendered really really fast. i used only 100 particles,no random size and 50% opacity. now imagine what you could make with 1000 particles.

Wow , great difference , I saw the trapcode project too but this is more real.

But then again it was never meant to be more than a means of inspiring people to do their own stuff... Part of the fun being in this business is exploring and evolving techniques, is it not? ;-) Otherwise we'd all be doing template-based wedding videos or something... *giggle* Nice job, anyways.

the best photoshop cloud brushes in my opinion are from Dave Nagel . in google search for Dave Nagel cloud brushes. series 11, 24 and 35. they are free.
