Hi all,

Here is a render test for a sword object that will be part of a larger character setup. C & C welcome.

The actual blade looks really cool. The handle looks a bit flat. The gold bit, although nicely detailed, is a bit TOO chrome shiny looking.

Thanks for that Morlankey,

yeah the handle has been a bit of a pain, getting those angled lines to line up without a seam in the texture hasn't been easy, starting to think I went about it the wrong way, need to play with it a bit more, I'll look into turning the shinny bit down as well.

Well, here is an update based on feedback so far. I think this is pretty well finished now.

RLM: any ideas as to how to make it sharper?

The handle looks too big for the sword, its almost 3/4 of length of blade where as it should be just under half the length, to balance it out a bit.

Hi MUzza,

Yeah, a few ppl have said that, however it is about right. The handle is designed for two handed use. Also that camera angle is making it look longer and the blade look shorter. When view flat on- the handle is almost 3 times the total length of the blade.

Anyway, thanks for the reply.
