View Full Version : Modeling: Merging Polygons
powerwave3d 05-23-2003, 01:38 PM I have a poly object that I want to be able to select 2 or more Polygons and make them into 1 poly. I looked in Help and the only thing I find is to use the MultiRes modifier. I only want to do specific polys so that's no use to me. I looked at a previous thread dealing with this and I couldn't find the answer. I'm sure it's a simple answer and I feel a little ashamed of asking but I'm short of time.
Thanks

Select both polygons and delete them. Under poly subobject, go down and click create or right click on the object and click create polygon. Now select all the vertices that make up the two polygons in a couterclockwise order until the polygon is created.:)

Faster way would be to delete the polygons and than cap the border, or select the edges, which you donīt want anymore and remove them (backspace).

Chris Subagio ported a tool from Nendo/Mirai called Dissolve to do just this. You can get CSPolytools through Scriptspot. Requires MAX 4.2, Meshtools 2.5. If you're using 5, Meshtools 3, and check the discreet user form Maxscript library for "CSPolytools revamped". I had to fix Dissolve to work with MAX 5, MT 3. Enjoy.
