I was wondering did Lucas just wrote the story or he also drew all the characters and enviornments? Or he just tells 2d artists, i want this and this kond of character or env ?

after years of being exposed to the starwars stories, I realize that he had a pretty
spot on idea what he wanted. but from some DVD extras I saw, he wrote the story
and had concept artists (ryan church) flesh out his ideas, he would sned corrections and make the final decision if his dream was realized. I assume there must be time when he had vague ideas of what he wanted , there the concept artist would have more freedom.
