Hey all, time for a new cool interview over at CgWorks :)

http://3d.cgworks.com/interview.php?name=Allan%20McKay&page=1

This time with Allan McKay, who most 3d studio people know from his extensive particle tutorials.

(Yes, that's a cg explosion ;))

There's also an interview with Tim Miller from Blur (http://3d.cgworks.com/interview.php?name=Tim%20Miller&page=1) at CgWorks, so... Hop on over and check it out :)

Ah yes, very nice! Alan's one of the few people really pushing MAX in VFX work.

Thanks so much for this heads-up, I'm spending the entire summer learning particles so this is definitely a good start.

The still is from a movie called "Seconds to Spare." It's a new release, a TV movie, I believe. I cannot recall which channel I saw it on, either USA or TBS Superstation.

Thanks, I see it now in the Features gallery.

Can anyone get Allan's reel to download? It doesn't do anything this end...

Cheers,

Steve

Mastering3d, they are avaliable at http://www.3dluvr.com in their tutorials section. There are both video tuts and regular html tuts to browse through. You can also find links to them on his site (at least I think you cam :))

Hey guys, that project was called Seconds to Spare (not the greatest project I've worked on that's for sure). I was brought on as the primary vfx td on the project handling all the fx pipelines for the movie. All of the 3D animation was all maya based (I didn't touch anything but fx on this gig with the exception of compositing), all of the fx were max 3.1 with afterburn (don't ask) with the exception of two missile shots I worked on in Maya.

Currently in Los Angeles for the next three months but after that I'm hoping to have time again to continue a lot of my personal projects as well as tutorials ect. Finding it hard to make spare time right now unfortunately.

Thanks everyone for the excelent posts! Didn't expect such big things when I turned on my computer this morning :)

Thanks Urg :D and everyone for your great comments. Doing these interviews has been a real blast - luminaries like Allan, Tim Miller, and Darryl Lajeunesse make it more fun than work. Come on by to INTERVIEWS@CGWORKS (http://3d.cgworks.com/viewforum.php?f=40) to see some of our others, and look forward to some great interviews in the future.

:bounce: Thanks cgtalk guys and gals for the encouragement! :applause:
