Hi everybody
I'm trying to model a toon character head. The style I'm striving for is something Nintendo's Mii like - very stilized and toony. I've run short of ideas on how to model curly hairs.

The best results i've got so far has been by placing irregular shaped spheres over the head, collapsing in a unique mesh and then simplifing with a lot of vertex merging. Still reminds me of a profiteroles.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

(I've checked within the Mii editor but I couldn't find any curly hairs. Maybe at nintendo they also got the same problem :)

so this the head as i was saying above. the right one is the 'final' mesh, simplified in order to remove the profiterole's feeling

still i don't like it a lot. do you have any idea on how to do it better?

Use "Compound Objects -> Blob Mesh" and add your spheres.
