View Full Version : Model is off center.. Any Fix?

Hey there, when using the transpose tools on my models it seems to off center them in the preview panel which if I am not mistaken is your central pivot point? Either way this causes issues when I am modeling symmetrically (especially radially).

Is there anyway to recenter the pivot?

edit: oops here is the pic to show the issue;

Thanks!!

Anyone have any ideas? :P I have searched around but it seems not many other people have this issue, or they all know how to fix it. :D

I don't really know hot to go back to the original pivot point to have back your symmetry. But for the symmetry problems, just activate the L.Sym (Local Symmetry) which is transform palette (or in the vertical bar on the right with navigation)
you can also use the Set Pivot and clear pivot when you need to be sure to go back the the -scene- pivot.
I hope it helps!

If a mesh is symmertical and off center you can also use deformation/unify, however it does affect the scaling just aswell as the position.

Woo! L.Sym worked perfectly :) Thank you so much guys.

I do have another problem now however.. it seems that I can't put my radial symmetry back up to 100 (what I was using previously) instead it has defaulted itself to 40.. For the life of me I can't figure out why..

what in the world are you using 100 radial sym for dare I ask?

I tested mine and it defaults to 40 as the max then after some random turning off and on of axes xyz and m it let me hit 100

Pedestal. :D

I threw it up to 100 so that I will have an easier time making more accurate indentations and such around the pedestal. I CAN do it with much less, but it just takes a lot more trial and error, as everything time I indent (or what not) I have more space to cover, and thus more space to make an erroneous movement causing myself to have to redo the operation.

I wouldn't be so adamant about wanting 100 back if I hadn't been able to get it in the first place. :D

I shall randomly click around too I suppose, see what I get. :P Thanks Mack :)

EDIT: I was thinking about just creating my own WIP thread (in the WIP3d section of course) and asking in there, but I realize my work isn't really .. 'good' yet so I figured it was best just to ask here. :arteest:

yeah, when I played with 100 syms I was like wow! how cool is this... Mad minute organic control

lol... I post in a WIP thread because my work isn't really good yet;)

Honestly bro, it helps me immensely

Ya I would have put it up higher if I was allowed :D

Perhaps I will create a thread.. :P Might encourage me not to lazy out of modeling. :)
