Hello all,

I keep getting a blue screen when trying to do a render out of Maya that uses the Shave and a Haircut software. I don't think it's the software. This is the error message I get:

*** STOP: 0X0000000A (0XEF888AD8, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0X804324FA)

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

*** Address 804324FA base 80400000,
DateStamp 3ad7ad60 - ntoskrnl.exe
Beginning Dump of physical memory

My computer savvy friend seems to think that it's a issue with the motherboard itself, and suggested buying a new motherboard. I'm hoping that it's something else that I need to adjust and then it will work.

Any ideas?

I'm running Windows 2000 Professional

AMD Athlon XP 2100+
1,048,048 KB RAM

Maya 4.5
Shave version 2.0v37

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
^ Hmmm, ouch, that happens to my PC from time to time on seemingly random occurences (esp when I have IE and heaps of memory-heavy apps running at once)... I've heard of people blaming it on everything from motherboards, to ram, to display cards though, so I'm curious as to how to solve the problem too....

If I find a solution, I'll be sure to post it!!

I think that is a memory bandwith problem

What can I do to fix it?

I just wanted to post again to say that after an exhausting round of testing the file, machine, render settings, and such, we've come to the conclusion that my issues with the render are hardware related. I've got a new motherboard (and a new processor while I'm at it) on the way.

Thanks to all, especially Deane at Gooroos Software, for helping me sort everything out.

yeah i used to get that kind of error all the time on my old machine and using lightwave...
ive been told its a hardware conflict.
If its possible to fix it, i think you need to know some serious hardcore technical computer stuff
my guess is that if you are doing 3d when it happens, its a conflict between motherboard and video card..
maybe you dont need to replace both, just try to find out ones that will match well together.
also, make sure youre video card is compatible with what softs you are using (check the soft distributer to see if they have a list of tested cards)

I would have said Video card also. That is the only time I ever had major shutdown bluescreen problems like that. Maybe something as simple as a driver IRQ problem. Upgrade or downgrade the video driver, it might happen again when you install a new mother board
