Hey guys,

I need to knock out the green chroma from 6 product shots. The shot is a plate of food spinning, the plate is spinning on green pole. I used the key light plugin to knock out the green and it does a great job.

How ever the pole was not lit properly and has a dark shadow to the left and I can't knock it out.

I was thinking of using a mask, but the plate sort of wobbles, so this would involve alot of key framing.

Is there an easier way to knock out the shadow of the pole?

Well, some things come the hard way, don't they? I don't think you will be able to remove the shadow other than masking. The keyer has no clue about what pixels are "correct" and which ones need to be removed other than the ones you specify by setting the color range. I'm not sure why this should be a problem - other artist roto off their fingernails every day. Since you speak about repeating motion, it is feasible that you can save a lot of work by simply repeating the keyframes beyond a certain point...

Actualy I found a pretty good way of removing the shadow.

Wire removal tool. I parent the x y motion to a null object that tracks the intersection of the shadow and plate plus another null doing the same at the bottom of the pole's shadow. Then I just parented the X Y position of the wire tool's nodes to the corresponding null objects.

Does a great job - had to mannually adjust only 3 frames.

That sounds like a different way to get it done.
