Do any of you know of a way to turn off the selection of an object yet retain it as a visibly textured entity in your scene?

I know “freezing” objects blocks their physical selection…but it also makes the object “gray out”. I would like to have it textured in the scene.

I often did this with Maya and its layer management tools - as a reference object [much like Photoshop layers].

Thanks for your time.

Haha! I just figured it out.. I just happen to need to do the same thing in the scene I'm working on :D

Right click on the object you want frozen -> Properties; In the "Display Properties" area, uncheck "Show Frozen in Gray". Now, when you freeze the object, it will still be textured and everything, just not selectable.

Thanks bro.

I am new to MAX and am still trying to get around in that program. Thankfully I wont have it for long...we will be switching to Maya soon enough. I am normally a Maya and Softimage user...

...but thanks again.
