i rendered out a quicktime movie file and it's 10GB in size. for some reason i couldn't move that file to my external hard drive. strange thing is that i can move to my internal hard drive. i'm getting this message:

sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error ocurred error code -1309

my source drive is almost full like 2GB left, but my destination drive has plenty of space.

your help is much appreciated.

Which OS, which file systems?

Check the file system of the external drive. It needs to be NTFS, HFS+, EXT3 or whatever. Using FAT16 or FAT32, files can never be larger than 2GB or 4GB, respectively, so it's natural moving files to the drives doews not work.

Thanks for the help. I was having the same problem with moving a file. Never thought of the file size.
