View Full Version : tool works only once??
garbagemonkey 05-22-2003, 05:50 PM So I'm filling a hole,
I select all of my edges and it works. I try to do it again and it doesn't. This has got to be a wacky MAYA history thing, right?
I don't want to delete my history, but i want to be able to change my mesh. Anybody know what's going on here?
thanks

I have somewhat the same problem, using the Split Vertex tool, which I use quite a lot. I always use the hotbox menu, and choose "recent commands" it sucks to do it this way, and i really wonder if there`s a way around it...
All help welkom...
btw, anyone know how I take a screenshot of maya? Isn`t that "print screen" and then paste, en a paint program?
-havent tried, cos I fugure it would work-

Garbagemonkey: Are you sure you're selecting all edges? I mean, there isn't any tiny (or zero-length) edge, is there?
Wazzup: You can select last used tool by pressing 'y'. Also, if you're use a tool frequently, it's a good idea to assign a hotkey to it. And yes, you can take screenshot by pressing 'print screen', or you can use a screen capture program.

You can select last used tool by pressing 'y'
The "g" key also does this. y and g are pretty much the same, but I think y is used to start a new operation with the tool when it is still active, and g is used when you have already finished the action and the tool is no longer active. But I could be slightly off there.
I just checked the hotkey assignments for these letters - "g" is "repeatLast" and "y" is "nonSacredTool". I have no idea what "nonSacred" means, but it works. :)

'y' for last used tool (split polygon tool, append polygon tool etc.) and 'g' for repeat last command/operation (merge vertices, rebuild surface etc.).

Thanks for the info! It help me A LOT! I`m working like 100% faster now.
Got one question -lets ask in this thread - -
I`ve got maya 4, and sometimes whene doing poly modeling, I want to weld two -or more- vertexes, but there is no weld tool. How do I "weld" vertexes. into one?
