Title: Early Morning
Name: Martin Hedenstroem
Country: Australia
Software: Carrara, Modo, Photoshop

My latest Carrara scene. More work on the trees has been done - hopefully the result is more realism. Used a volumetric cloud to create the mist. Worked in Photoshop for colour correction and lighting adjustments.

Very nice work on the pond and mist, but the only problem is that the lighting in the foreground doesnt match the bright sunlight towards the trees that are furthest away

Overall,I love the composition, but the lighting throws it off slightly

I like it man, not quite photo-realism but very close.

Very nice and very hard to do (for me anyways). Overall I agree with Fuzz, there is a slight discrepancy in the lighting, but wow, what a nice job you've done.

Nice image, and the realism is realing coming along. Is Carrera really that good at this stuff, or are you working miracles with this program? No questions that your work with it is impressive: just wondering why I don't see more vegetation stuff done with it?

No miracles here, just lots of practice, experimentation and observation of the real world. Carrara has an excellent and efficient instancing system called the "surface replicator" which can do a great job of placing 1000's of objects across a terrain. The trees were created with Carrara's own procedural plant modeller - but again many hours of tweaking to get the right "look" of the species I was trying to replicate. Like any 3D app, Carrara is only as good or bad as the artist driving it.

Thanks for the reply - sorry, I didn't get any notice of it so I did not see it till now.

It's still pretty interesting to me that you can get such great results and there is no widespread buzz about this program. Great work in any case.

I love this scene; From the lighting I get the feel that the viewer would be standing in the grass under some rather large and densely leaved branches. Nice and cool and shaded while the sun kisses the grass at the other side of that small pond. I have no beef on the lighting-that is how I view this image.

Your work has always been an inspiration; this is no exception.
