free hair plugin

gee I'm surprised no one answered you yet..... you should look for Peter Watje's hair plugin.... its the only free one that I know of (besides maybe demos).

under the plugins section you should find something on hair.
I havn't really played around with it too much. I've seen much better results with opacity maps on planes. the only time I've usued it as a matter of fact was for grass. Let me know what you think.

You could also try Freehand tools (www.scriptspot.com). However, personally I don't think even half-decent results are acheivable with any free scripts/plugins, and if I didn't have access to Shag i would just paint the hair and opacity map it.

i only need short hair, and the result with max's scatter object looks okay.
havent had time to try any of the plugins yet.
