Following on from the success of 'Animex Talk' and discussions lead by Ray Harry Hausen, Shelley Page, Phil Tippet, Jason Schleifer, Paul Driessen to name but a few, Animex is pleased to announce the launch of the 'Animex Student Animation Awards' - an inaugural scheme dedicated to recognising and rewarding student animation in both the UK and abroad.

Entry to this years award is free, and open to any frame by frame or computer assisted animated film or video created by students between January 1st 2002 and July 31st 2003. Prizes currently pledged by our sponsors, that include Adobe, Alias Wavefront, Apple, Discreet, Macromedia and NVidia are currently worth in excess of 12,000 GBP.

This year the Animex Animation Awards Team have expanded the event to now include the following categories :

* Best 3D computer Animation
* Best 2D Computer Animation
* 3D Computer Animation for Games
* Best Computer Web Animation
* Best Visual Effects
* Best Short Animation
* Best Experimental Animation
* Best Editing Award
* Best Sound for Animation

what they mean by "both the UK and abroad" ? What is considered as "abroad" ?

This "abroad" term is so hmmm unprecise (?).

i believe he meant USA and canada as an example, abroad is defined as any place other than your home country

what does it mean by "student"
it is university students or students such as 15 or 16 can enter

usually college and university students.........you know, since I'm going back to university this year to do my MA, I might as well have a go. :p
