Here is my problem, I´m working on a character and I´m trying to put some hair on it. When I aply the hair to a selection of the model or to a id material of it the texture that I aplied to it dissapears so I get no texture only thing i get is a flat color, anyone knows what´s happening? How can i fix it?

I don't really understand what you are saying. Can you please try again, and perhaps add a screenshot?

Try detailing each step you are taking that leads to this effect.

Doesn´t matter now i´ve already fixed that problem. But i don´t find the way to render the hair properly, maybe it´s because i´m using a pirate varsion of the program

put a mesh under the scalp.. copy the mesh on the head..you want the hair to be.. put it beneath the head.. delete the head.. or make it transparant , to have a good look at you base hair modelmesh.. than go model the hair with the splines( u know)... afterwords.. attacht the mesh to the head.. and keep the ids// :)

shag:hair rendering problem:

you always need a light to render the hair properly. depending on your version you either have to use "hair enabled lights" or if you have version 1.01 you can use all max standart lights. it's also important to set the shadow option of the lights you are using to "hair enabled shadows".
