i'm really annoyed by the fact that as long as many things have changed in rel 8 of cinema and the tuts have not been updated to match new way to handle basical tasks.

I understand that maybe for them rewriting a manual full up is a loss of time and money, but they could do a good job by adding some side readme underlying what has been changed.

for example i'm now trying the anim tuts present in the Tutorial_C4D_us.pdf downloadable from :
ftp://ftp.maxon.de/pub/r8/docs/c4d_r8_tut_c4d.zip

well, at page 151 it refers to right clicking in the attributes manger/coordinates page, on the P letter of rotation, and then select Animation/add keyframe... NOTHING like that pops up. i mean the contextual menu only shows:
undock
rename
make tab
new icon palette...
new group window
close

Obviously these are rtelated to the Coordinate pages rather beeing the contextual menu requested
Where do i find it?
Any clue, pls.

look at the attributes manager with your object selected.

there should be a button saying Coord. at the top

click on it

from the co-ordinates select the one you want to animate by clicking on it's name (e.g. click on x if you want to animate x, or click on h or whatever).

now it's selected, right click on it to bring up that menu.

it's all in the manual.

Rather than poo pooing the tutorials for being wrong, perhaps you should follow them a bit closer. It doesn't help that you're not using the tutorial layout they provided in the program.

Click on the Attributes tab on the bottom right.
Now click on the bit below it which reads 'coord.'

Do NOT click on the coordinates manager. This is an old window which has no context menus of any sort. This is usually docked down out of the way so you can't accidentally confuse it with anything else.

u where rite about the layout issue.
But don't make me like a lamer, i'm yes a newbie in C4d, but iwas straight referrign to the TUT, infact as u can read at page 142 of the tut pdf it says to choose the "animation.l4d" layout.
then when they introduces the Timeline and F-curve they don't refer to switching to the tut one. And if u read carefully page 151 third line is written:

"In the attribute manager, click the Coord. tab to display the coordinates pages"

well to me this will tend to click on the TAB, instead of the Coord buttons within the Attributes tab as mdme_sadie said.
This could be a little confusing, couldn't it?

Anyway,THX very much for the eyeopening ;) both to mdme and to imashination

"In the attribute manager, click the Coord. tab to display the coordinates pages"
So instead of clicking on the Coord. tab in the Attributes Manager you clicked on the Coordinates Manager--and this is the fault of the tutorial how?

Your screen cap clearly shows that you were in coordinante manager. Not the AM dude, and that tutorial you are quoting clearly states AM not Coordinante manager.

anyway best of luck with GI.

hi pals,

maybe i've been not so precise in using my language but that was; anyway don't forget that sometimes u start reading a tut or a manual page two, three 10 times, and u remain stuck on that node and u can't see that obviously u are reading it in a wron way.

That was may case, but don't make me so guilty... u may admit that using the term "tab" would u make eventually point to a tab rather than a button.
But forget it, as i said it was my fault.

I thank u all always, because of the speed of replies and for the willing of sharing your knlowledge.
