I understand that it is possible, in max, to save out your scene as .mi file that can be imported into mental ray standalone.
Am I correct in understanding this is simply an ascii text string describing the scene geometry and shaders etc?
Is it possible to import the .mi scene file back into max?
If so can a .mi file created in either maya or xsi be brought into max?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
