After considerably longer than I planned, I've finally finished my 'powerAxis' plugin.
Basically what this gives you is complete control over the modelling axes in C4D.
Normally, C4D forces the modelling axes to the centre of the bounding box of the current selection. With powerAxis you can put them where YOU want them, so e.g. you can rotate or scale a selection from a mesh around a vertex/edge/poly from the same or diferent mesh, or any other place you'd like...
E.g. Rotate a polygon selection around one of its own edges, or if you want something more complex, how about scaling an edge selection about a vertex, whilst been constrained to being parallel to an edge from a different object...
It also provides tools for positioning entire objects such that a specific feature is placed where you want it - e.g. placing one object on another so that they have co-planar faces, etc.
It's $30, and there's a demo version so you can see it in action.
I'm still working on the website, so it's a bit thin on the ground for examples at the moment, but the plugin is available now.
Works on Mac and PC, Cinema4D R8 only.
Overview page (http://www.astrofish.com/powerAxis/powerAxis.html)
Some simple examples (http://www.astrofish.com/powerAxis/powerAxis_exam.html)
Documentation (http://www.astrofish.com/powerAxis/powerAxis_man.html)
Demo (http://www.astrofish.com/powerAxis/powerAxisDemo.zip)
Buy here! (http://www.astrofish.com/cgi-bin/shop/shop.cgi) (note - you will need your 11 digit Cinema4D R8 serial number)
Now I'm off to get a few hours of sleep before I collapse....
Cheers - Steve
