know such a realistic lighting.. Anyone that can advise

just careful use of lights, and a good environment map/couple of bright white cubes placed carefully.
you can even use ditools to clone lights on a huge sphere with an good environment texture on it to get nice effects.
radiosity/HDRI is light bouncing off surfaces to create GI(global illumination). So pretty simply radiosity is light coming from everywhere. Which if you have alot of lights in the right places can be faked.
weather you simulate it though careful placement of lights, or with the ditools method, its still pretty much the same thing.
check in the lighting thread that is going on now for more hints on how to do this.

It doesn't look like HDRI at all imo
Exactly the point I made at renderosity. HDRI renders always seems to have those ultra busy reflections. There is no busyiness to these reflections.
anyway kinda funny people just saying ohh ohh looky its HDRI, when its really just the buzzword of the moment. Not really thinking to hard if it is or isnt.

Thanks you guys opinions.. quite hard to imagine without a clear
walkthrough of what mdme_sadie has said.. sound like using
kind of IBL and careful placement of appropriate lighting to achieve the effect of that pistol. Very appreciate helps.
Perhaps anyone could highlight any critical successful factor to setup that kind of effect.....and I think that could be not only one way and we should experience and try on our own.

yeah i'm not a member on radiosity either.
that said you can fake hdri and you can use a light dome...eg technique mdme_sadie was heading for with dixcloner...also a plugin for v7 called 50grey of something which fakes gi.
the busy reflections part of hdri is only because everyone is using the same probes and high reflections etc....so not sure if this is really an aspect of all hdri really...when its more about faking real light without lights...more image information (high range) eg not limited by say 8bit for red colour...range could be far more red than 256...hopefully you follow what i mean...essentially using a lightprobe for a background and getting better results in the way a scene is lite when using radiosity...surely...well thats my limited understanding.
