View Full Version : How to do if I dont have mental ray

Hi all, I bought a book about using 3ds rendering plugin such as vray and mental ray. I thought there is a mental ray in 3ds max so I can learn without buying it. But when I read the book and checked inside 3ds max, I couldnt find anything there.
Is there way to learn mental ray? Is it free to download from internet?

Mental Ray comes with 3ds Max. What version of 3ds Max do you have?

Note: default renderer in 3ds Max is the Scanline Renderer, maybe you missed this?
Check it by pressing F10 -> Assign Renderer rollout -> MR

There's also a vray demo with almost no limitations you can use to learn vray without buying it.
