I know you can customize all the hotkeys in Maya. What I now want to do is to change using the mouse. I want that it works like in Softimage: hotkey + left mouse button = rotate, HK + mmb = Zoom and HK + rmb = pan.
Now how can I change that? I know where you can set the preferences, but I didn't find the option where I can change these buttons.
thanks

I wouldn't say you can't change it, you just can't change it how you would change hot keys. You may need a device script to change the tumbleCTX.

thanks. This would be very bad if this was impossible. In my opinion also these keys are ONLY hotkeys and would make the life of an animator much much easier if in every package all of them could be customized. then you could find out a good system for yourself and apply it to all the packages you use. I think the hotbox in Maya is great, but how you use the three button mouse in XSI is very good. So would be cool if you could combine the too. I know XSi has no hotbox, but I think you could create one.
