Title: Temple Courtyard
Name: Elchanan Prus
Country: USA
Software: Maya, mental ray
This is a model of what the courtyard in the second Temple in Jerusalem looked like. I retextured this model with Mental Ray architectural materials. And I slightly improved some of the Textures. I'm still working on it. Any constructive criticism or comments are welcome.

First of all thanks for modeling the temple courtyard. I am just curious, did you have a reference when you modeled this? I noticed the beveled bricks which is similar to the Roman construction of the temple. The only crit I have with this is the golden or the yellowish colour on the foundations, but anyway if your intentions is to present this as if its brand new then thats fine. I do have the actual reference of the main temple itself. Some day I will take time to model it myself, which for me the temple if it still standing today could have been one of the worlds heritage site and be included as one of the wonders of the world.
This courtyard must be the area where most of the trade took place like moneychanging from caesars coin into the temple money for them to buy their offerings like bulls, goats, doves etc. What intrigued me is the technique the ancient Romans used to build and then demolished (70 A.D.) it even without using advance heavy equipment machineries especially knowing that they were using materials that weighs several tonnes?

yes built/constructed by hundreds of jewish priests. what i meant was it was under the supervision and authority of Herod that is why its called herodian temple because palestine and the rest of Europe at the time was ruled by the Romans. It was Herod who provided and supplied the stones needed for construction.
