Hi Folks,

Just wanted to post my current WIP, it's nothing spectacular by any means but it's always nice to get a critical eye on these things and some help as well :)

This is a teddy bear i have been messing about with for a few hours in total. I'm no expert so these things take time for me :) it's pretty much finished as far as detail is concerned unless i decide to add the seams on the bear.

What i would like to know is has anyone ever created fur for something like this. I'm modelling off a bear i have in front of me and he is pretty furry. I'm using lightwave and saslite so i dunno if it is possible. it seems a bit bald even if i crank up the density.

anyway here he is.

he doesn't get much more exciting in the colours and i realise that the joins between the legs and arms are not great but i'm kinda hoping that the fur will cover some of that up as well :D

anyway crits and comments welcome.
Thanks

hmmm - problems with sas-lite giving bald patches? Presumably you're using it in fur mode?

Take a look at:

this is full blown sasquatch but you should be able to get similar sorts of things with sas-lite.

looks a nice model though - maybe add a mouth of some variety? Even if it is a stitched mouth?

Hey Fallen

thanks for the comments and the tutorial, i had a look at that one before but i don't think Saslite works with image maps (i could be wrong though, if anyone knows differently please tell me)

As for the mouth i'm working off a bear i have in front of me and he has no mouth. He does have seams up the middle and side though so i might add them to give it more of a teddy bear look.

Hmmm - dunno if saslite does or doesn't work with image maps....haven't really used it to that extent. The only other thing I can think of to increase fur density is to use a second layer of fur with slightly different settings to your first and see how that turns out
