I was facing some tough deadlines this past weekend on some long animations that would take about 6 hours each on my old dual 500 G4 machine. Of course there were post effects that had to be added too. This was on Saturday and the work was due Monday.

I contacted Dann Stubbs and tried Renderking to see how it went, as I had been looking for a job/situation in which it would make sense to use it ever since he announced the service about a year ago.

I assumed I'd see a significant increase in renderring speed, but I was totally blown away! The first file rendered in 15 minutes! I was able to view stills of each of the 13 clients renders which updated automatically. It really saved my ass. Then there were some tweaks that had to be made. No problem! I actually sent the file through several times, refining it to my liking without worrying about render times at all. I was finding I was sending any animation file up to the site, even small ones, to render while I worked on keyranming the next one or setting up my AE file.

Except for some ftp settings issues which were my fault, I found Renderking to be easy to use, very convenient, and very FAST! I highly recommend it. Also, Dann is very accessable and friendly, and answers your questions pretty fast. For those who use Maya as well, his farm now supports Maya.

Check it out?

Some of you may have already noticed that Maxon highlighted Renderking on their new "In the Spotlight" feature, which they update regularly on their site.
