CGTalk - mayas global passes

this is just a basic question, I'm playing a bit with rendering in layers and mayas global passes.

am I right that the color pass and the shadow pass together are the same as the beatuy pass?

for what do you need the beauty or diffuse pass then?

color = diffuse + specular
beauty = color + shadow

so

beauty = diffuse + specular + shadow:thumbsup:
