View Full Version : Global Tasselation?
belly80naz 05-21-2003, 11:45 AM hi all, I've got a question for Maya's guru: I'm a old XSI's user and in xsi there're the global and local attribute on the objects, (the XSI's users can understand me, I mean the "global" and the "local" attribute, like Geometric approximation, ecc...) but in Maya I've seen that for all objects I can press Ctrl+a and see the Display Render Tasselation in an interactive mode, but the question is: can I set the resolution or tasselation equal to a group of objects without setting the tasselation for all objects one by on by hand?

Well, I'm not a Maya guru, but I'll try to give you an answer.
You can set tesselation of multiple object at once using attribute spread sheet. Select objects, open attribute spreadsheet, go tesselation tab, click on the column label to select entire column, write new value and press enter.
For Mental Ray, there is an option on overrides section of render globals. Also you can create a geometry approximation using approx. editor and asign multiple objects.
Sorry for my terrible English.

for mental ray you can find in my web page a simple script to set the attributes of the approx nodes that you select.
