Hello everyone,
Just started doing some Character concepts for an upcoming RPG i will be working on. We are a small group so most of the art gets handed to me (which I certainly dont mind!). Anyway the game is going to be about a viking city being taken over by undead creatures. the combat will be a basic turn based strategy system (ala Final fantasy, Dragon quest, and most other RPG's out there). Were all still students so it is an interesting learning experience (especially the managing of the group!). This is a great start for me though since I hope to one day be an art director for a triple A studio (Blizzard!!! why haven't you called?!?! :P). Anyway, Critiques are always wanted even if its only concept work, its nice to hear from the pro's.
this was all done in photoshop...

PS dont know how to do thumb nails... just an FYI

Looks pretty good so far. The concept sounds good too. Vikings... thats new approach. I like it. So often people go for mods or small games and stuff, and you hear the concept and you just cringe. The story is the foundation. It has to be strong. Or at least have potential.

Theres some movie I just saw recently that had a lot of Vikings in it. I think it may have been Pathfinder, but that may be something else. And 13th Warrior. Just two points of reference that come to mind...

Is the game an assignment? or did a group of you just get together to do it?

mobius - this is for a student project... it was quite interesting how it turned into this (the original game doc was no where near that). Regardless we are a class made up of about 8 artists and 2 programmers. given that ratio we decided to do a more art heavy game. Also, we are using the torque game engine... just in case anyone wants to know.
