I have been practicing my landscape design with Cinema 4D over the past few weeks and this the result I came up with.

Any opinions on what I can do to improve?

Thanks,

Emmanuel

The Sky looks kinda weird as if it is a solid object...??
For the mountain, you should experiment with bhodinut !! I think there's a tutorial for it at the maxon site..

The sea however looks great !!

Keep it up !!

hmm the sky looks just way to solid. My guess is that you are using a plane for the sky and not using the alpha channel enough. That would cause you to be able to see the entire plane. While is probibly not the effect you are looking for.

Also I would make a few chnages to your light setup the closer you get to the sky the more washed out it becomes.

here is a link to a good city lighting thead that just might help you a bit.

the foreground texture looks good.

But, there must be a smooth transition at the horizon.

And,
To get different and great landscapes i advise you to use Relief feature of C4D.
And to create some good terrains as BMP use one of,
- Terragen
- WorldMachine
- Terraformer

Also another tip,
It is possible ot create great landscape textures with Terragen. Of course it has a disadvantage of using an image on your texture but on still pictures it looks great.

Keep on testing. I'll watch :)
