I have setup a tracker to follow an item of my footage. I also created a complex mask ( at first frame ) to subtract some garbage from that footage. Now I want this mask to move along with the tracker information.

The complete footage needs to be greenscreened in the end.

I thought of adding a solid and applying the masks onto that layer, which would then hide the garbage of the footage. And perform some keying to eliminate the solid again.

Is there no simpler and better solution to obtain the same result?

For now, yep, thats how to do it.

You can apply track data to individual mask points, though. But to assign one track to an overall mask, yeah, you have to put it on a solid, apply the track data, and use it as a track matte.

If you're interested in applying the track data to individual points, I made a video tutorial on it a while back.

I recently had someone create a tool for me to make alot of tracking adjustments super easy. As a surprise, the guy included a new way to apply track data to mask points, and its way easier and cleaner than the way I show in that tutorial I just posted a link to. But I haven't been able to do a video tutorial for it yet because work is pretty hectic at the moment.
