A friend of mine who lives in Germany told me about them sometime last year I think it was.He is in design and manufacturing etc.I will ask him for some more info if you like?

Squid 50,000 is actually a lot cheaper then I thought they would have been :) .....heh heh no more Barbies exact replicas of super models :D

I'd like to see ThirdEye get his Lambo done, painted up and left outside his house... that'd be cool.

i am so lucky to have rapid prototyping at my university here in Delft, Holland. we just printed something out of maya in white and next we are going to print a model in color. print size is something like 8 x 10 x 12 inches max. i think we are sort of like the testing class, but next year everyone can print models, don't know how much this will cost tho, since it is pretty expensive.

cheers

thats pretty cool but I don't think they are plastic. my understanding is that they are plaster.

the company looked into resin as well but I think it turned out to be too expensive.

Ahhh--didnt read the site extensively enough--just assumed it was resin.

I suppose if it was plaster you could drill a hole, and fill it with resin maybe :)

I only knew it wasnt resin cause the owner posted info about it a while ago in the general forum.

Its probibly not on their site, the feeling I got was that it would cose like 500-1000 or something like that for each one to make them in resin.

but its a pretty neat thingy no matter what they are using.

Hi everyone, the models we produce are infused with a hardener that makes the surface very tough, almost plastic like but still breakable. These are more for show than go.

Joel, thank you for posting about us.

Creature, we can ship internationally but you will need to pay the tariff and import taxes. Please contact us if you are interested.

knight42, sure we can do lifesize.....one 10in.x8in.x8in. piece at time. :)

kiwi, I'm not sure why you would want a resin filled model, could you please explain?

JIII, yup, the machines that produce plastic (or metal parts) and the parts they make are very expensive. We figured our only chance of getting affordable solid models into the hands of people like ourselves was to go with the machine that we chose.

We are working on some samples to send out to people. If you would like a small sample part please email me at info@3dArtToPart.com with a name and address to ship the sample to. Thank you everyone for your interest in our services.

i know of such a service bureau here in Italy in Trieste to be precise, that applies this fare:
10Euros for 1 mm in eight, plus a percentage depending on how much resin will be necessary for the built model.

something u'll have to think twice about.
