View Full Version : How come video plate isn't playing in Maya?
Lost10 06-03-2008, 05:31 PM I exported a footage from AE in TGA image sequence. I imported the footage into Boujou. I tracked it. Solved and everything. Works perfectly fine. I exported the "camera solve" from Boujou. I opened up the scene in Maya. Everything looks fine except the video on the plate isn't playing. It's only moving around in the perspective video. It has the tracked points and everything. But why isn't the video playing on the footage plate as it should be when i scrub through the timeline?

Convert the files to a jpeg sequence so it will load a little faster. Also if you have unlimited you can hijack the camera trackers ability to cache the sequence into ram(which it doesn't do by default). Look on highend stuff like the links below. I just did a quick search but I know there are more then just those.

Actually, i did try it as a jpeg sequence. I am not sure if i am explaining this well. But here i go again. So i have a footage exported as a "Jpeg" images. I import it to Boujou. I track it and everything. Now i am ready to export the "Camera Solve" which includes the footage and the reference points. So i export the camera with the right settings. I open up Maya 2008. I open that exported Maya file into Maya. Now in the perspective window, i have a Camera with footage plate and reference points along with it. Now when i play the whole footage plate scene, all i get is nothing. There is suppose to be an actual video on the plate but instead, there is only pic of Image 1 of Jpeg seqence. So it seems, the video plate is actually a still picture plate instead of it being a video plate.
Now something is going on that i may not know. But the thing is, i was following this tutorial that did exactly the same thing as i did and he has the video on the plate in Maya where as in I only have a still picture of the first frame of the supposed video on the plate. Everything else is there except the video.
I hope i explained it right. I am still looking for a way to fix this. In the meantime, if you have any clue to what is going on, it'd be great if you tell me. Appericiate it.

ahh, ic. Just go into the hypershade and under camera's, select the imageplane so it comes up in the attribute editor. Just look around in there and make sure it has the sequence loaded instead of the single frame.
Sorry I can't tell you exactly what to click on. I don't have maya on this machine.

I suspect it's Maya having troubles to understand the padding used in your sequence.
Try using something like: yourseuquence0001.jpg, yourseuquence0002.jpg ..etc It should work.
Maya is really annoying in such things.
