Hi,
I am trying to create a footage of (around 30 people's) black footsteps walking over a white background, and I need to conform the footsteps to the path they walk in. So I thought using particular.
It does generally a good job, but I don't know how to make the steps (basically a custom layer kind of particle (a footstep)) follow the path. all footstep are placed with one single orientation.
suggestions ?

Not possible. For this kind of stuff use expressions with valueAt(time) based on a custom targeting formula using atan() and conventional 3D layers. Since you are a programmer, you should have no difficulty with the math... ;-)

hey, I am quite new to AE.
Are you sure this is not possible otherwise ?

Particular always renders sprites oriented towards the camera There is no way to persistently keep them aligned with the orientation at their birth time. You could rotate them by creating a pre-comp with a 3D camera, but then it's "rotate on, rotate all", obviouly. Everything else requires different tools.

is it really impossible to use the orient path tool ? (other than the fact that I doubt you can use it in a script, and definitely not in an expression)
