Hello

I am pretty much new to the demo reel crafting experience (never needing to make one in college), so any tips or feedback I could get on this would be great. I'm also new to the forums, so... hello world!

Anyway, my reel can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IH4rPF_PaXI (Please excuse the quality of the upload. I must've tried uploading it seven different times, and each time, until now, it destroyed my video completely)

Everything that you can see was done by me, pretty much either in Maya or After Effects, over the last couple years in New Media at the University of Maine. The lip-sync dialogue was from "Young Frankenstein", and the music is "Take the A Train" by Gypsy Swing Revue.

I have some still charcoal drawings that I did not include on my demo reel. Is it a good idea to include any of it, or are studios pretty indifferent towards them? Also, should I consider trimming the video down even more, or reshuffling the clips shown? Or anything, for that matter?

Aww, no replies? I'm sorry to bump this post, was just hoping for a little constructive feedback from this (I'm new to this sort of thing). Even a "this sucks" would work, if it actually did suck. :p

Thanks

I've used Maya for only around a year and a half now, I think, and self-taught myself almost all but the very basics. No professional-level work yet--these are either from class assignments or personal experiments.

It's a good start. I would suggest that perhaps you need to put some of your stronger work at the start of the reel. As it stands any employer might watch the first few seconds and not be impressed, and switch off, which would be a shame because your reel has better examples of your work later on.

Good luck!
