I like it! It gives a great sense of motion.

Only problem is that it doesn't show off much of the car.
Do you have any other renders of the car? I'd like to see the rest of it. Again, great work!

The reason I plugged this is because I love the composition, the color scheme and of course the car ;) but seriously it really stood out because it looks very professional. I've seen similar ads in mags and such with similiar quality. All you need is some flashy gold or chrome text or something and you have a killer ad Lexus would be proud of

Excellent job

It reminds me of the car ads that the Mill and R!OT work on. Very nice.

My only crit is to not use the Inel Indeo codec on the .mov version of your demo reel, because then neighther the avi nor the mov will work on a Mac. :annoyed:

dmeyer, so which format i should render it out from AE so Mac ppl can watch it?

Maybe you have to show your amazing skills not just in Modelling cool cars. You already proved what you can do with cars, but maybe job hunters are not looking for that right now...or maybe they are but 70 % of cg artist are doing the same, not the same quality than you, but cars, nude girls, etc are everywhere!!!

What do you think?

Your shot is really pro, but there is something with the shadow on the road that bothers me. The moon is your main light source but I think the shadow of the car is not totally correct.

Cheers!

Nice work and good luck with the job hunt (you can wish the same to me as well :p )

My only crit is that the reflection on the hood of the car and the reflection on the windshield has the same intensity. On the same note if you reduced the windshields intensity it would help it stand out from the fog and sky. Maby a bit more light on the bumper? I agree with the comment manutara made about the shadow, maby it needs to be lightened up a bit?

Out,
Don

Nice Cars on your reel. But I definitely agree with with manutara. After seeing your reel. All I got from it was that you know how to models cars and that you understand compositing. I also saw nice camera work. The lighting isn't bad. But other than that it just puts in the box with the guys that know how to model cars. I don't know maybe that's what you want to do. But if you don't you have to show more range. My boss the biggest thing that he looks for in reels is creativity. And he has hired some not so good artist as far as 3D but honestly I've seent them grow and that creativity shines through when they start modeling,texturing,etc.. With a little bit of guidace some of these guys do some beautiful work. I guess all I'm saying is be creative. And orignal. As good as your reel is we can always watch nascar if we wanted to see cars racing. Good luck.

Thankx guys for the comments
especially STONEPILOT, thank you, I can see you got a lot to say, and thankx, I understand what you are saying, yes, cars cars cars, we c everywhere.
All i did is model a few street and few cars, I guess i wont get hire at all
Nascar, well, I dont know much about it, and I never watch them on TV for more than a minute, i think its kind of boring seeing cars go round and round for hrs.
again, thankx, i'll take your compliments

a MOV utilizing a codec such as good ol' cinepak, sorenson, etc. MP4 is nice too, but will limit you to only quicktime 6 users.

Nice work, maybe the windshield could look a bit more curved.

As for as the codec goes for your demoreel have you tried DivX. Very nice quality..very small files. www.divx.com

Macs run Quicktime mostly, but a .mpeg will run on amy Mac in any version of Quicktime, I have ran into this before and had to make a Divx .avi and .mpeg movie.

Like TMPEGnc will work well for converting your movie.:)

:hmm:

True divX is easily the best quality codec...the point though is that using a ubiquitous (even if older or higher data rate) codec that is guaranteed to work across the board is often a better idea when you dont know the audience platform, especially in a job hunt situation. Employers are more likely to go to the next applicant rather than spend time transcoding a file or searching for the proper codec if they don't have it installed already.

Thankx everybody for their comments and crits

yeah, i m still trying or different setting with the codec in AE, trying to get the smallest file size, and each time takes 4ever.
Anyway, thankx everyone for their help, I really appreciate it.

This scene is awesome. I like how you made the car seem to be going really fast. The moon looks a little distorted, however, the car is beautiful.
