Hey there:

i know that you all get this alot but i got this new job as an animator a job that i always dreamed of and they gave me this charecter and they asked me to do an animation test and this is what i came up with:

well according to the charecter they gave me which looks like a stick i wanted to make him a secret agent who will climb down a pole and then he will sneak against the wall to find bunch of smugglers carrying boxes.
and this is the climbing down part i couldn't film it untill recently so the parts that you will see are intirely from my imagination which a friend of me recently told me that imagining the animation is a quite huge mistake and he said that i should shoot it or get some refrence so if any one got any refrences please help help help and how can i make this aniation almost perfect

p.s-forgive my typos but i didnt get any sleep for like more than 36 hours

here's the links for the animation

Hey man don't only rely solely on reference either, I think what you have here is definitely a good start. The position of your hands and feet seem to be ok, what you need to do next is add downward weight to his body and begin to overlap your hands and feet a little so everything isn't hitting all at once.

Then post again and we can move on from there.

Good start, but it still looks very stiff and robotic. In order to add weight to your character you should add anticipation and overshoot as he is climbing down the ladder.

Looking at the back view, right now you have him climbing down the ladder and his hips and torso stay perfectly straight and stiff the whole way down. You should add some sway in this hips and spine in order to make it look more natural. As my college animation instructor always told me, "If an atribute on your character can be animated, you should animate it." Every single part of the body needs to have some motion to it or else your animation will look stiff.

I've writen some articles on basic animation tips and tricks. Feel free to check them out on my blog at www.dpendzich-daa.blogspot.com (http://forums.cgsociety.org/www.dpendzich-daa.blogspot.com)
