Hello everyone,

Want to ask your sugguestions about blendshapes.

I completely rig a character (in low res), will animate it, then transfer the animation to a hi res (skinned) version of the character.

now the question is, should I create blendshape for the low res, or the high res model? (or two version?)

and what's the proper workflow? I am a little bit frustrated that I bought so many books or training DVD (even from those Maya Master class from Siggraph), none of them mentioned the proper workflow of proper blendshape transfering (if there's a need to transfer..)

any suggestions? I appreciate it.

Sam

It is a hard task to construct blendshapes especially if u r going to do two rig version...
There is a deformer called the wrap deformer in maya which is really helpfull for driving hi rez geometry with low rez geometry containing all the blendShapes...In my case I just create all the blendshapes and facial rigging stuffs on the hi rez mesh..(Head is seperated at the beginning stage-splitMerge)...Later, I can just add the hirez head to the low rez animation rig ...Finally the animation is tranferred to the hi rez mesh where the wrap deformer comes into play...
