hi guys.
was just wondering what you people do for lipsyncing in c4d? I have seen the lightwave method where you load a wav file into the timeline and can scrub in it. What is the equivalent way of doing this is c4d? The graphical wave of the soundfile doesn't do me any good, from the timeline. Are there any plugins perhaps that let you use sound files in the same way as in lightwave?

If you have R8 you should be able to scrub.

R7 can only put the sound to the animation in the rendering.
R8 should also play it as preview. But how does it work?
Would be cool if anyone can help us to solve this problem.

P..:

1. add a loudspeaker object

2. add a "sound" time track to it in the timeline file menu

3. make sure the sound track is unfolded, then right click in the space below the track. This creates the track.

4. In the A.M. under sound poperties, click the elipses button (3 dots) and find a wav file.

5. Now the tricky part. In your Animation menu (main menu) make sure Play sound is checked.

Scrub away!

Magpie is pretty cool--but it actually animates the facial gestures/morphs of a head model based on the soundtrack. Usually integrated with Poser I think. I think the Motion GImmick plug is pretty much the same--but not sure.

And of course I wouldn't be Kaydara employee of the month if I didn't point out that MB also does this.

Kidding--it only *seems* like I work for Kaydara.

Speaking of which I just got mine delivered yesterday. The one thing that struck me right away was the awsome fold out full color KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS CARD.

Havent had a chance to install yet--and I probably wont till the weekend--but the card is nice :)

The package came with 3 disks but the double cd jewel case was partly shattered, and the single cd jewle case was broken off its hinge. My only complaints so far.

So what then, is the final answer for us XL7 Users?

Didn't computerarts.com have a tutorial for us?

What i did Adrian, when I was in R7, was to bring in the wave file which shows up as a waveform--and you can play it form C4d --you just cant scrub.

I would then have the file opened in a sound editing program and would play the sound file while comparing the waveforms I'd then add tags in the c4d timeline to where specific words or sounds occuured.

I would then add the same sound file to my AE project in post. Tedious but you get used to it and it works.

I think XL7 can import markers on a sound track, so you may be able to tag the phonemes in your .wav editor.

I believe thats a PC only function though--not sure.

JoelD: What audio program did you use. I want a small and efficient program with a very small foorprint, and not one that clutters my c4d interface too much. Any tips?

Thanks for all the help folks! Really appreciate it!
